C-Beam Manufacturing
C-Beam Mould CAD and C-Beam Carbon Fibre Layup.
This is the C-Beam mould that I cadded for the front wing c-beam of UT22 for University of Toronto Forumla Racing. In this project, I used the c-beam CAD file, prepared before by one of my teammates to offset sketch and create a mould for our carbon fiber epoxy hand layups. The CAD was made with respect to 3D printing guidelines and was printed for use in layups. This mould was intersected into two pieces for to take the final product out easier. To do this, two bolt holes were cut in the mould and countersunk, to accommodate the bolts that would connect the pieces. The cbeam was then made using the mould and carbon fibre hand layup as can be seen in the pictures below. This project, added to my CAD, collaboration, and self-direction skills, as well as designing for 3D printing which will be useful moving forward to a design career.
